What inspired you to go abroad?
I have always had a wanderlust, but never acted on it. After experiencing an unexpected life change the time was right.
Why did you choose TEFL Pro Prague?
I chose TEFL Pro Prague because I liked the accessibility of the school director who answered all my questions in a timely manner. As a working adult, I was looking for an effective school that was efficient and flexible.
What was your favorite part about Prague?
What was, still is, I haven’t gotten used to the architectural beauty, it’s absolutely breathtaking.
What made your experience abroad unique?
I’ve been abroad before. Going abroad has always presented challenges and rewards. What has always made it feel unique to me is seeing things from an outsider’s perspective, though I know I’m not the only one who has felt that way or had that experience.
How did local staff support you throughout your program?
The classroom environment was small so I like the fact that I could ask for their help in a non intimidating casual setting that was conducive to learning. They gave me their personal contact information and were happy to answer any questions that I had, both when it came to studying and any survival tips that could help me in the city as a newcomer.
What’s one thing you wish you would have done differently?
I wouldn’t have come before the holidays.
Describe a typical day in the life of your program.
It was seven years ago but from what I can remember you wake up, read over what you learned the day before, come to class, listen to a grammar presentation, watch the teacher teach, then you and other students teach and evaluate each other.
What did you enjoy doing in your free time?
At the time I was spending time getting legal work done for my residency, I also explored museums, nightclubs and restaurants.
What is one thing every participant should know before participating in your program?
If you are motivated, have a positive attitude, listen to instruction (be coachable) and give it your best effort you will be fine.
Now that you’re home, how has your time abroad impacted your life?
I have made Prague my home. Prague is a city that if you aren’t careful, you can fall in love with.
