What inspired you to go abroad?
I was craving a change in my life and I was hoping to gain perspective, knowledge, and experience in a country I have never been to.
Why did you choose the “Teaching English in Prague” program?
I wanted to expand my skills and help people expand theirs. Teaching English in Prague would allow me to accomplish both of those. I would learn how to teach English effectively while furthering someone else’s studies. Effective communication can offer so many opportunities to an individual and has the weight to change their lives for the better. It is truly a privilege to be able to help someone do that.
What was your favorite part about Prague?
The people, for sure! They can be wary of new people as they get so many tourists, but once you make a friend out of a Czech person you have a friend for life. They open their hearts warmly to you and they are incredibly funny in my experience. The culture and the food in Prague is also a major positive, as are all the delicious beers you will be drinking.
What made your experience abroad unique?
It was unique for me to have so much support from the people around me. Even after I got my certification I was well-connected and had a great team of reliable people to turn to. For someone who travels alone, this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever encountered and I could not be happier with how my decision to join this program turned out for me.
How did TEFL PRO Prague support you throughout your program?
They supported me in every way possible throughout the program. They connected me to a handful of people that ensured my success the entire way through the program. They had wonderful staff who taught me how to teach, create lesson plans, gain students, and create a career out of teaching English. Not only that but they helped me with getting my visa which was a massive help. They helped me with accommodation and
they made sure that I always had people to turn to if I had questions. TEFL Pro Prague made sure I had job connections by the time I graduated and assisted me in gaining students right away.
Describe a typical day in the life of your program.
In the program you typically would wake up, make your way to your classes, have a break, go back to your classes, prepare presentations and go home. In the second week you begin to give presentations and do teaching practices and they’re quite fun and incredibly useful.
What did you enjoy doing in your free time?
Drinking beers! It is rooted in the culture here to drink beers as it is almost as cheap as water. The food scene is great here, so I spend most of my time finding cool new places to eat, drink, and laugh. I also spend a lot of my time wandering around the city and all the beautiful parks.
What is one thing every participant should know before participating in your program?
You will likely decide to stay in Prague once you begin the program. Czechia is a beautiful, opportunistic country and it is hard to leave it behind. Plan to stay for a while.
Now that you’re home, how has your time abroad impacted your life?
I have gained so much perspective throughout my time in Prague. I was able to learn new skills, learn some of the language and cultures that run through the heart of Europe and really get to experience all the wonderful things that living abroad can offer you.
Would you recommend TEFL Pro Prague to others? Why?
I was able to receive the best help from everyone involved within this company and they made sure I was well looked after. They truly went above and beyond to ensure I had every resource I possibly could have to set myself up for success both within the teaching community and within living abroad in Prague. TEFL Pro Prague helped me before, during, and after the course and are always checking in with me even after I am done with the course to ensure my success. They are a wonderful group of people and I highly recommend TEFL Pro Prague to anyone looking to have a great time in Prague while learning a new skill that starts a well-rounded career helping others further their studies.
